Once again, and we always wait for it impatiently, the end of year celebrations are finally here!
Let's be honest. Despite all the excitement, this time can sometimes become a source of stress.
3 Femmes et 1 Coussin is here to share with you some simple tips to help you get through the frenzy of the holidays with serenity, and above all, to fully enjoy the essential... being together!
7 days before your reception
-
The grocery list
Make a detailed list of the remaining shopping or purchases for your Christmas meals. To avoid getting discouraged, group the items by place of purchase. If possible, get a head start by buying all dry, non-perishable or frozen foods first. This will considerably lighten your list for the last few days. -
Inventory of your dishes
Take inventory of your water and wine glasses needed for the evening. Make sure you have the right number.
PS: If you plan to decorate your table, check in advance that your tablecloth is not stained. If it is, you will have time to clean and iron it. Do the same with your napkins.
-
Think ice cream!
During the week, prepare ice cubes and store them in a bag or airtight container in the freezer. This will avoid the unpleasant surprise of running out on the day. However, at the last minute, you can avoid trips to the refrigerator with an ice bucket. -
The day before your reception
- Set your table.
- Check that glasses and utensils are clean and free of marks.
- Start preparing some items on your menu, if possible (e.g. peeling and washing vegetables).
- D-Day
- Avoid the accumulation of dishes throughout the day.
- If you have a dishwasher, make sure it is emptied before the meal.
- Prepare a dedicated space for bottles of wine, water and spirits, and designate a person responsible for serving aperitifs.
