Table art: tips and tricks to harmonize your holiday table

As the holidays approach, we are constantly bombarded with magical images and sparkling lights, and we can easily get carried away by a few thousand ideas flying around in all directions. However, when it comes time to think about the art of the table, inspiration can be lacking. Here are three tips from 3 Femmes et 1 Coussin to avoid further panic during the holidays!

1. Harmonize colors and textures

  • Choose a color palette to coordinate the tablecloth, dishes, napkins and decorations. For example, neutral tones (white, beige, gray) can be enhanced by a bright or metallic color (gold, deep blue, emerald green).
  • Alternate textures: a raw linen tablecloth with porcelain plates, shiny metal cutlery, and faceted glasses to create an elegant contrast.

2. Focus on the details

  • For the occasion, opt for beautiful napkins. Choose dark colors to hide any stains that may appear during the evening.

  • Add a personal touch with place cards. Assigning guests to a specific place sometimes creates a better harmony among the guests.

3. Create a warm atmosphere

  • Light the table with candles or string lights for a soft and welcoming atmosphere. Opt for unscented candles so as not to interfere with the flavors of the dishes.
  • Add a natural centerpiece: a bouquet of seasonal flowers, an assortment of fruits, or fir. Make sure the centerpiece is low so as not to interfere with conversations.
